Clue 2 (Thursday)
Ember fields of Tennessee, through the canister and smoke,
He marched with the One-Hundred-Twenty-Seventh, and never broke.
A thousand miles from home he stood, in a field of gray and blue,
While a man named Frank James fought in fields of timber from a rebel point of view.
Two paths that crossed in thunder, though they never met by name,
One rightly seeking quiet duty, and the other blood and fame.
Clue 1 (Wednesday)
While inside of Northfield’s only bank, on a sunny pleasant day,
Sat a man of modest measure who never challenged fate.
He was timid, he was quiet, so the local people said,
With a conscientious spirit and a humble heart and head.
But the hands that held the fountain pen also gripped a rifle’s stock,
When the Union called for steady men to stand against the shock.
