Graveside Memorial

12:00 Noon – Wednesday prior to celebration – Northfield Cemetery (across from High School on Division Street)

Since 1990, the Defeat of Jesse James Days Committee has begun the week of the celebration by giving tribute to the two brave men that gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for their town and our future – Joseph Lee Heywood, who was the acting cashier at the 1st National Bank, was killed by the robbers and Nicolaus Gustafson, a Swedish immigrant, was killed in the cross fire on the street. Without them on that fateful day, September 7, 1876, our lives may have been quite different today and for that we want to always remember their roles and the reason we have the Defeat of Jesse James Days Celebration each year.

The DJJD Committee is always looking for participants of speakers or music. If interested please contact us.
