DJJD Carnival Site Change & other weather impacts
Due to the rain over the last two days, and the rain over the last few weeks, the DJJD committee has decided to move the 2016 DJJD carnival to the K-Mart property at 404 Schilling Dr., Dundas, MN 55019. This decision was made in consultation with City of Northfield and Dundas officials, Northfield Police Department and the carnival operator.
The Committee held out until the last possible second to move the carnival, but the rain would not stop. The condition of Ames Park is not getting better and we want to provide the best carnival experience as possible. There is parking available at the K-Mart lot, or you are encouraged to use one the newly expanded shuttle system. A new map and route schedule will be released later today.
The Sundowner Car Show located at Riverside Park, will be moving a portion of the Car Show to a grassy spot by Village on the Cannon (301 7th Street West, Northfield, MN 55057). This is a minor move as the alternate site is located close to the original location.
Expanded Park and Ride Shuttle Service
After consulting with the rodeo operators and reviewing the conditions at the rodeo site, it has been determined that there will be very limited parking at the rodeo site, and visitors are encouraged to park at the Post Consumer Brands lots and walk to the rodeo or take a shuttle.
In addition, to improve parking in downtown Northfield and the surrounding neighborhoods, there is expanded park and ride shuttle service. The expanded service includes lots at the Northfield Ballroom (1055 Minnesota 3, Northfield, MN 55057), All Flex Flexible Circuits (1705 Cannon Lane, Northfield, MN 55057), Sechler Park in Northfield, and the two parking lots across from Post Consumer Brands (701 5th Street, Northfield, MN 55057) which will be available on Friday September 9 after 5:00 p.m.
There will be express shuttle service to and from the carnival on Thursday only. The pickup stops are the downtown stops.
The Committee is currently working on finalizing the new map that will outline the new routes and schedules, which will be released later today. (Wednesday, Sept. 7)
We will be updating our website www.djjd.org, and Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/DefeatofJesseJamesDays, with the most up-to-date information regarding any other site changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding while the DJJD Committee works on making these changes.
