James Gang Mounted Shooting is a new inexpensive ($1 or free entry with a celebration button) family event during the Defeat of Jesse James Days Celebration. Mounted shooting is a fast paced, horse mounted, action show. Local James Gang members will be costumed as western historians from 1865-1876 as they demonstrate accurate shooting and horse handling at a gallop. A brief historical account of the outlaws and gunslingers (Wild Bill Hickok, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, General Custer etc.), and what they are known for in the wild west will be narrated by Chip Deman before they perform.
Between shooting events there will be entertainment, cowboy horse trick riding, professional rodeo clown, and fun games involving the audience just to name a few.
We truly believe this family event could become a new Townie Night tradition. It will be held on the rodeo grounds on the Thursday evening (Townie Night) of the celebration weekend. Show time at 7PM to end at 8:30 to allow children to get to bed at a reasonable hour. No adult beverages will be served during this event.
